If you are a survivor of a brain injury, or if you are
a family member or friend of a survivor, you can join
AHIA and become an active member of the organization.
Through the educational meetings and support groups,
you will receive information leading to a better understanding
of the neurological and psychological reasons for the many
changes that take place in someone with brain injury. You
will gain a wealth of information, suggestions, and encouragement
from the "experts" - others with similar experiences.
As a survivor, you will have the opportunity to interact and
discuss with other survivors your questions, frustrations,
and fears, as well as your hopes and dreams.
Professionals working in the field of brain injury rehabilitation
and other interested individuals, may volunteer to
support this organization with your time and talents. Your
help could be vitally important to helping survivors and
their families each their goals. You can assist with fund-raising,
prevention activities, public awareness, recreational outings
for survivors, and advocacy activities to support the needs
and rights of brain injury survivors.
Professional, social, civic, fraternal, and other organizations,
as well as businesses and individuals, can assist survivors
and families through fund-raising activities and
tax-exempt donations.
