Support Groups

Meet and connect with other survivors in person.  There are also in person and virtual support groups for caregivers.  Learn about where you can meet people who understand what you are going through.

Financial Aid

AHIA will support requests for certain expenses that are not covered by insurance that aid in safety, security or education for Brain Injury survivors.

Field Trips

AHIA field trips are powerful because they combine therapy, community, and joy. Survivors often withdraw from activities they once loved due to fatigue, anxiety, or sensory overload. A well‑designed outing gives them a peer group that understands their challenges.

Resources

Resources for brain injury survivors, and tools that help individuals and families navigate medical care, rehabilitation, daily living, emotional recovery, and community reintegration are available to make sure survivors are not facing the journey alone and can access the right help at the right time. Brain Injury Symposium

The AHIA Symposium creates one of the few truly shared spaces in South Texas where medical professionals, rehabilitation specialists, survivors, and caregivers can learn from one another in real time. It turns lived experience into expertise, emerging research into practical tools, and isolated challenges into collective solutions. By bringing the full brain‑injury community into the same room, the symposium strengthens the regional care network, elevates survivor‑centered practices, and ensures that families and providers leave better equipped to navigate the long‑term realities of brain injury.
